Thinking About Moving to Dubai?

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had quite a few messages from people in the UK who are either in the middle of planning a move to Dubai, or who have been thinking about it for a while and suddenly feel a bit unsure.

And I completely get it.

When you’re seeing headlines, hearing conversations, or just picking up on a general sense of uncertainty in the region, it’s only natural that it makes you pause – especially when you’re making decisions that involve your whole family, your children, your home, your day-to-day life.

But I also think it’s really important to share what it actually feels like here on the ground, because there can sometimes be quite a disconnect between what’s being reported and what life is actually like.

And the reality is, Dubai – and the wider UAE – still feels calm, steady, and very much open for life as normal. Schools are open, routines are continuing, people are going about their lives, and there’s a quiet sense of confidence here that things are, and will continue to be, well managed.

If you’ve spent any time here before, you’ll probably recognise that feeling – it’s something the UAE has always done incredibly well.

Why People Are Still Choosing Dubai

What’s been interesting is that, despite everything, people haven’t suddenly stopped considering Dubai – they’re just approaching it slightly differently.

There’s a bit more thought, a bit more questioning, and a bit more of a desire to really understand what life here looks like before making the move. But the reasons people were drawn to Dubai in the first place are all still very much there!

  • The lifestyle is still incredible.
  • The sense of safety and ease is still a huge pull.
  • The opportunities – both professionally and personally – are still incredibly strong.

And for families in particular, there’s something about the pace of life here that just works.

If anything, moments like this tend to make people think more carefully about where they want to be, and what they want their day-to-day life to look like – and Dubai still ticks a lot of those boxes.

A Slightly Different Way of Approaching the Move

What I’m seeing more of now is people wanting to slow things down slightly, ask better questions, and make decisions that feel really considered rather than rushed.

Which, in my opinion, is no bad thing at all.

Relocating is a big decision, and having the space to properly think it through – to understand the realities, not just the highlights – is so important.

And that’s exactly why I started The Landing Desk.

What The Landing Desk Actually Does

The Landing Desk sits right at the very beginning of the relocation process – that stage where you’re thinking about Dubai, talking about it as a family, maybe exploring options, but not quite sure what the next step should be.

It’s not about overwhelming you with information or pushing you into anything.

It’s about having a calm, honest conversation and helping you make sense of it all.

Sometimes that means talking through whether now is the right time to move, or helping you understand what life here actually looks like day-to-day at the moment. Other times it’s getting into the more practical side – schools, areas, budgets, timelines – but always in a way that feels manageable and clear.

And when you’re ready, we connect you with the right people to take things forward properly, but only when it feels right for you.

You Don’t Need to Have It All Figured Out

One thing I always say to people is that you really don’t need to have a perfect plan before you start having these conversations.

Most of the families I speak to are still in that “we’re thinking about it, but…” stage – and that’s exactly where we can be most helpful.

Whether you’re trying to figure out if Dubai is still the right move, wondering what schools are like, or just wanting an honest perspective on what life here feels like right now, it’s all part of the process.

If the last couple of weeks have made you stop and question things a little, that’s completely understandable.

But if Dubai is still on your mind – whether that’s something you’re planning in the next few months or just exploring for the future – it’s still very much a conversation worth having.

And you don’t need to wait until everything feels certain to reach out.
